Judi began her gemological career at the young age of 13 when she won First Prize for a science fair exhibit on Crystallography. The budding young gemologist continued her studies in the sciences (math, biology, physics) and the arts at Brandeis University and the University of New Hampshire, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a BA in Liberal Arts and a Major in Zoology. |

Throughout those formative high school and college years, she studied the sciences while complementing her formal education with art courses in photography, drawing, ceramics and graphic arts. Upon graduation, Judi attended the Gemological Institute of America in Santa Monica, California and graduated at the head of her class with a diploma of Graduate Gemologist in residence. As a member of the American Gem Society (AGS), Judi continued her studies in the fields of gemology and appraising and was awarded the Society's highest title, Certified Gemologist Appraiser (CGA). Judi has also completed extensive training in appraisal methodology with the International Society of Appraisers and has earned the highest title, Certified Appraiser of Personal Property (C.A.P.P.). Judi's speaking engagements include numerous workshops in gemology and estate jewelry at Notre Dame College, Hesser College and Bijoux University. As well as lectures for local organizations such as the American Business Woman's Association, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, NH Woman's Forum, and various local gemstone and mineral clubs. She has also appeared on "The Good Day Show" with Tom Cottle (Channel 5, WCVB TV-Boston) and worked with investigative reporters at Channel 7 (WHDH, Boston) to uncover shenanigans in the jewelry trade. As President of Bijoux Extraordinaire, Judi has been active in the many community organizations and charities: including, Queen City Rotary, Manchester Chamber of Commerce, Child & Family Services of NH, Downtown Business Council, Manchester YMCA S.T.A.Y. Committee, Manchester Leadership Class of 1990. She has served as President of the New England Guild for the American Gem Society, as well as the NH State Chairperson for the AGS Membership Committee and on the AGS appraisal committee. Judi brings to Bijoux Extraordinaire a sophisticated, artistic and creative approach, as well as a strong scientific background. With these two complementing backgrounds, she offers her clients exciting custom designed jewelry ideas, accurate and analytical appraisal services, and guidance throughout the purchasing process. Judi is a nationally recognized expert, instructor and advocate of jewelry consumer awareness. She is a professionally trained gemologist and appraiser of fine jewelry, with over 25 years of experience in the retail, wholesale, manufacturing and design phases of the jewelry business. Arthur V. Anderson, CEO of Bijoux Extraordinaire, Ltd.Art now heads up Bijoux Extraordinaire's estate and antique jewelry department, where he focuses on beautiful jewels from the past that will adorn and compliment today's wearer. He has a particular passion for the jewelry of the late Victorian, Art Nouveau and Edwardian eras. However, his love is fickle: the Bijoux collection also includes beautiful jewels from the Georgian, early Victorian, Art Deco and Retro periods.
