Victorian 15kt Gold Strap Bracelet

The central rondel,  slide and terminus are richly engraved and accented with black basse taille enamel.  At the end of the strap is a fringe of foxtail links and gold balls.  Crafted in 15kt gold,  the bracelet dates from around 1880.

Measurements:  This elegant bracelet is crafted in 15kt gold.  The strap of the bracelet is  0.7" wide and has a maximum circumference of  8.75".  The bracelet weighs  36.7 grams.

The back of the terminus is engraved with the original owner's name  "E.A. Kimball."

One of the great features of a strap bracelet is that it fits any wrist size up to its maximum circumference,  just under 9" in this case.  For smaller wrists you just pull the strap through the rondel and the slide holds it snuggly to your wrist.

Finely made mesh bracelets present only one problem.  The feel and flexibility of the mesh can be mesmerizing.  These bracelets are as fun to play with off your wrist,  as they are to wear!

The middle Victorian era (1860  -  1880) was a golden age, literally.  Jewelers of the era took advantage of the gold discoveries in California (1849) and Australia (1851) and created beautiful,  intricate jewels in gold.  The strap bracelet shown here is one example.
