The splendors of the Byzantine Empire .... intricate gold work created by master craftsmen, lavishly bejeweled objets d'art and items of personal adornment. We like to characterize the decorative styles of the Byzantine period as the "Busy Byzantium".
This beautiful necklace is reminiscent of some of the intricate chains and jewels created during the Byzantine Era (400 to 1300 A.D.) Notice the elegant interlocking circular links connected in multiple directions and planes to create a stunning three-dimensional design. These intricate links are brought together to form a thick, sparkling rope-like strand of gold. Because of its intricate design and multiple gold surfaces, this necklace captures and warmly glitters with every passing light. This elegant necklace features an oversized ring clasp that is both decorative and functional. Oversized clasps, all the rage in Europe, can be decoratively worn in front or hidden in the rear for a more traditional look.
