Meet the Jewelry Experts

Judi began her career as a jeweler/gemologist at the young age of 13 when she won First Prize for a Science Fair exhibit on crystallography.   The budding young gemologist continued her studies in the sciences (math, biology, physics) and the arts at Brandeis University and the University of New Hampshire, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a BA in Liberal Arts and a Major in Zoology.

Throughout those formative high school and college years, she studied the sciences while complementing her formal education with courses in art history, photography, drawing, ceramics and the graphic arts.  Upon graduating,  Judi attended the Gemological Institute of America in Santa Monica, California and graduated at the head of her class with a diploma of Graduate Gemologist in residence.  She continued her studies in gemology with the Gemmological Association of Great Britain and earned the coveted title of Fellow of the Gemmological Association (FGA).

Judi's speaking engagements include numerous workshops in jewelry and gemology at Notre Dame College, Hesser College and a series of jewelry lectures she offers known as Bijoux University.  As well as lectures for local organizations such as the American Business Woman's Association, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, NH Woman's Forum, the Cameo Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and various local gemstone and mineral clubs.   She has also appeared on "The Good Day Show" with Tom Cottle (Channel 5, WCVB TV-Boston) and worked with investigative reporters at Channel 7 (WHDH, Boston) to uncover shenanigans in the jewelry trade.

As owner of Bijoux Extraordinaire, Judi has been active in the many community organizations and charities:  including, Queen City Rotary, Manchester Chamber of Commerce, Child & Family Services of NH, Downtown Business Council, Manchester YMCA S.T.A.Y. Committee, Manchester Leadership Class of 1990.   She has served as President of the New England Guild for the American Gem Society, as well as the NH State Chairperson for the AGS Membership Committee and on the AGS appraisal committee.

Judi is a nationally recognized expert, instructor and advocate of jewelry consumer awareness.   She is a professionally trained gemologist and appraiser of fine jewelry,  with over 30 years of experience in the retail,  wholesale,  manufacturing and design phases of the jewelry business.   Her credentials and history of training include:

My interest in the history and beauty of antique jewels has spanned over 30 years.  During this time I have had the pleasure of studying and working with jewels from all periods and regions of the world with a special focus on the elegant jewelry of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.  In the Antique and Estate Jewelry Galleries  you will find many of the jewels that I have recently had the pleasure of working with.
