The back and side views of the stickpin (see below) show the care and detail with which it was crafted.  The diamonds are securely set in the sturdy framework with their pavilions (undersides)  left open to allow the passage of light.  When adorning a lapel, scarf or tie the stickpin is securely help by a sturdy yellow gold pin stem.
Cost:  Although this elegant stickpin has sold,  you will find many more fine stickpins in the Antique Stickpin Gallery.

Measurements:  This 14kt gold stickpin is just under 3" long and the filigree top is  5/8" by 1/2".  The six diamonds weigh approximately 1/3 of a carat in total.  The stickpin weighs 2.3 grams.

Old European Cut Diamonds

Old European-cut diamonds were prevalent in the late Victorian era and early 20th century.  By the 1920s Old European cuts were less common and giving way to transitional and modern brilliant-cut diamonds.  When this stickpin was created it is possible the diamonds were rescued from an older, possibly distressed, piece of jewelry.
