Carrington Button Tuxedo SetClassic Buttons |
An elegant tuxedo set with mother-of-pearl
centers designed to mimic traditional buttons. The frosty
elegance of the white gold borders and the snow-in-moonlight
shimmer of the mother-of-pearl centers create a striking
white-on-white contrast. Created by Carrington &
Company in 14kt gold circa 1930. |
The backs of the cufflinks are beautifully crafted in 14kt yellow gold. Carrington’s attention to small details is seen in the polished, mirror-like finish of the backs, the sturdy cross bars and brackets that secure the cufflinks when worn, and the gentle curve of the outer edges of the cufflinks.
The Carrington maker's mark (a squared "C" enclosing "14") is stamped on the backs of the cufflinks. Carrington was one of the preeminent makers of fine tuxedo and dress sets during the first half of the 20th century. The firm's cuff jewels were retailed by Tiffany & Co. and other carriage-trade jewelers of the day.
