Celtic Revival Gold Citrine BroochCeltic Revival! |
A dramatic Victorian brooch inspired by the ancient Celtic Crosses of the Irish countryside. The brooch features a rich golden orange Citrine accented with four stations decorated with interlaced Celtic designs. An outer circle of interlaced designs, a polished gold halo and twisted wire work surround the bezel-set Citrine.
Victorians loved jewels inspired by ancient and distant cultures. During the 1860s and 1870s there were various Etruscan, Egyptian, Greek, Gothic, Renaissance, Scottish and Celtic Revivals. This brooch is a wonderful example of the jewels created during the Celtic Revival.
The back of the brooch is well constructed with a sturdy pin stem and "C" clasp. The gold surfaces are polished with a rich golden glow. Near the base of the brooch is a small loop to which a gold safety chain would have been attached. Name: Celtic Revival! |
