![]() Elegant Art Deco Cufflinks![]() Festive Garlands |
Festive garlands decorate yellow gold centers
surrounded by white gold borders embellished with classical
anthemia and maze-like designs. These elegant cufflinks
were created by Jacob Hookaylo in 14kt white and yellow gold,
circa 1925.
![]() The care and craftsmanship with which the Hookaylo workshop created cufflinks can be seen on the reverse. Note the strong wing-form bridges and sturdy brackets that secure these cufflinks on the cuff. The backs are polished to a mirror-like finish - please excuse the shadowy reflections from the camera.
![]() One side of the bridges is stamped with an "H" inside a horizontal lozenge, the maker's mark of Jacob Hookaylo. The opposite side is stamped with "14K" indicating the purity of the gold. Hookaylo was a Russian emigre who created fine jewelry in Newark, New Jersey during the 1920s and 1930s. His cufflinks are beautiful, miniature icons of Art Deco style and elegance.
