Custom Tanzanite and Diamond Ring

It takes only one word to describe this custom tanzanite ring ... "Wow!" This beautiful ring was handcrafted in 18kt gold with platinum accents. It features an oval tanzanite set in a dramatic platinum mounting. Two round brilliant-cut diamonds sparkle in the centers of sculpted yellow gold flowers flanking the velvety blue tanzanite. Beneath the golden flowers, sprays of platinum leaves glistens with a cascade of smaller channel-set diamonds. The coolness of the platinum leaves and settings beautifully complements the warmth of the yellow gold flowers and body of the ring.  The sides of the ring have recessed golden niches into which curling platinum scrolls and darts are set. Within the loops of each scroll are small sparkling diamonds. The central setting which holds the tanzanite is graced with a fleur-de-lys beautifully crafted in platinum. This beautiful ring has many fine details that should not be missed. The rear of the golden niches have a stippled finish to create a better contrast with the polished platinum scrolls. And, the edges along the channel-set diamonds are milgrained for an elegant dash of sparkle. It is in the small details that fine jewels excel ! |

This ring is as striking from the side as it is from the top. The center tanzanite and side diamonds are set in a flowing cascade of sparkle. The flower heads and leaves were meticulously carved and hand engraved to create a rich life-like appearance. And the warm tones of the gold beautifully contrast with the cool brilliance of the platinum and diamonds. This side view shows the uncompromising craftsmanship and attention to detail with which our goldsmith works. Note the crisp, even smoothness of the platinum bezel holding the larger diamond and channel setting beneath it. Work of this calibre is rare, but absolutely essential to creating a beautiful jewel. If the settings are uneven or mis-shapen, gemstones can become loose, further erode the setting, and may eventually fall out. |
 All fine jewels should be as beautifully finished on the inside as they are on the outside. With rings it is important that the inner surfaces be smoothly polished and the edges of the band gently rounded. After all, a ring should not only be beautiful, but also comfortable on your finger! Also note the sturdiness and depth of the platinum setting holding the tanzanite. Because tanzanites are not as tough as diamonds or sapphires, they should be placed in secure, protective settings. We want to make sure that this beautiful gemstone lasts as long as the striking ring in which it is set. |
