Elegant Blue and Gold Cufflinks
| Twilight blue enamels set in boldly sculpted
yellow gold cufflinks. Beneath the enamel the gold is
finely engraved with a radiating star pattern that shimmers like
a distant star in the evening sky. An elegant example of
guilloche enameling. Created by Taylor & Co. in 14kt
gold, circa 1925.
The backs of the cufflinks are as carefully crafted and finely designed as the fronts. Note the thickness of the edges that help protect the guilloche enamels and the sturdy brackets and cross bars that secure these cufflinks on the cuff. The maker of these cufflinks, Taylor & Company, was known for the fine details and crisp, precise execution of its designs.
The cross bars are stamped with the maker's mark of the Taylor & Company - a draftsman's T-square - flanked by "14" and "K" for the purity of the gold. The firm was founded by John N. Taylor in 1906 and created beautifully designed, finely crafted cufflinks and other jewels at least into the 1930s.
