Art Nouveau Iris BroochIrises! |
A bouquet of golden irises flourishes amid an Art Nouveau tangle of curvaceous stems and foliage. This brooch beautifully captures the wild, fluid aspect of Art Nouveau design. Crafted in 14kt gold, circa 1900.
The back of the brooch illustrates the intricacy of the design and the care with which the jewel was crafted. The brooch attaches with a sturdy pin stem and "C" clasp. A chatelaine hook beneath the pin allows a small watch or other pendant to be suspended below the brooch.
One side of the clasp is stamped "14K" for the purity of the gold. The other side (pictured above) displays the shield-shape mark of an unknown maker. Name: Irises |
