Art Nouveau Sunflower Cufflinks
Sunflowers! |
|
Exuberant sunflowers and a tangle of whiplash vines grace these Art Nouveau cufflinks. The dramatic sunflowers and vines, beautifully sculpted in gold, seem to radiate sunlight and warmth. Crafted in 14kt gold, circa 1900.
![]() In the years around 1900 Art Nouveau jewelers created beautiful jewels that interpreted nature in fantastic, sometimes surreal, ways. These cufflink are a nice example of the striking, nature-inspired designs of the Art Nouveau era.

The cufflinks are well constructed with "bean" backs. The fronts are connected to the bean backs with sturdy split bridges strengthened by a small gold ball set at the split. The inside of the bean backs are stamped "14K" for the purity of the gold and with an unidentified maker's mark, a stylized Maltese cross.
