Carnelian and Gold Cufflinks

Carrington carnelian cufflinks. (J9006)

Carrington Red!

Alluring cufflinks featuring rich, sultry red Carnelians set in antique yellow gold.  The wonderful luminous glow of the low-dome Carnelians imbues these cufflinks with inescapable elegance.  Crafted in 14kt gold, circa 1920.

The backs of the cufflinks are as well crafted as the fronts.  Three sturdy links and extended brackets secure the links on your cuff. The backs are crafted in 14kt yellow gold and polished to a bright finish.  Carrington & Company was known for the exceptional design and craftsmanship of its cufflinks.

The backs of the cufflinks also tell a bit of their history.  The bracket design is consistent with vests buttons from Carrington dress sets of the early 1900s.  Often when a dress set was passed down from one generation to the next, the vest buttons were reset as a second pair of cufflinks.  If the owner of the dress set had two sons, each would receive an identical pair of cufflinks.  The reverse of these cufflinks shows the initials of the original owner "W" and the recipient "M".  A nice bit of history.

The reverse of the cufflinks also shows the maker's mark of Carrington & Company,  a "C" surrounding "14".  Carrington was a maker of beautiful gold and platinum cufflinks, dress sets and other jewels during the first half of the last century.
