| This estate sapphire ring has all the elements of cool elegance - a striking blue sapphire, sparkling white diamonds and cool platinum. The sapphire is a rich tanzanite-like blue in incandescent lighting that shifts to a soft, cool blue in direct sunlight. This striking gemstone is set in an engraved platinum ring accented with thirty six diamonds. |

On either side of the sapphire, three brilliant-cut diamonds are bead-set along the shoulders of the ring. The diamonds are framed in a box-like setting. The edges of the "box" are milgrained to add an extra touch of elegant sparkle. Beneath the bead-set diamonds, the ring is decorated with an engraved bell flower pattern. The milgraining along the edges is also continued. |

 The sapphire is held by four platinum prongs with grooved tips. The prongs sweep upward from the side of the ring where fifteen round diamonds are bead set in criss-crossing ribbons of platinum. Beneath the diamonds, an engraved bell flower pattern and milgrained edges once again adds a touch of elegant sparkle. |

 This beautiful ring is as well made as it is striking. In this view of the underside of the ring, you can see the sturdiness and quality of the gallery that holds the gemstones. The shank (or band) of the ring is thickly built through out its circumference to provide many years of comfortable wear. At the base of the ring the engraved pattern is discontinued so that the ring can be easily resized. |
 The rich sapphire, sparkling array of diamonds and cool platinum are reminiscent of jewels of the Edwardian era. However, based on the style and design of this ring we date it the second half of the last century. |

| The cushion-cut sapphire is a soft violetish-blue and weighs approximately 4 carats. The sapphire measures 9.4 by 7.8 millimeters. This platinum ring currently fits finger size 5 1/4 and can be resized to comfortably fit any finger. | ||

| It is common practice to heat sapphires to improve their color and appearance. Generally, you should assume that all sapphires have been heat treated unless the seller specifically guarantees otherwise. However we believe, based on examination of the inclusions in this sapphire, that it is from Ceylon and has not been heat treated. | ||
