Elegant Huger Gold Cufflinks
Golden Spirals! |
|
A beautiful pair of Huger cufflinks with richly engraved designs surrounded by flowing scroll borders. The engraved centers are a nice example of engine turning, a technique invented in the 16th century for etching intricate patterns on gold and other precious materials - sort of like Spirograph for jewelers. Crafted in 14kt gold, circa 1920.
![]() The backs of the cufflinks are as well crafted as the fronts. Note the sturdy cross bars and brackets that secure the links on your cuff. The cufflinks are stamped with a precious metal mark ("14" for 14kt gold) and the maker's mark for William Huger & Company. They are also marked "D.E.," most likely the initials of the original owner.
The maker's mark for William Huger & Company is an "H" with curling sides. William Huger & Company was a maker of fine cufflinks and other jewels during the early 1900s.
