Elegant Onyx and Pearl Dress Set
Onyx and Pearl! |
Dramatic black onyx centers surrounded by elegant white gold borders and set with small white pearls. The dramatic interplay of black and white captures the jazzy elegance of the 1920s. Created in 14kt gold, circa 1925.
![]() Complementing the cufflinks are three shirt studs. Like the cufflinks, the shirt studs are crafted in 14kt gold and play off a dramtic contrast between white and black.
![]() As with all fine jewels, you should examine cufflinks closely from every direction. The backs of the cufflinks and shirt studs are crafted in 14kt yellow gold. Note the maker's attention to detail in the sturdy brackets and cross bars that secure the links on the cuff. Please excuse the dark reflections from my camera.
![]() The cross bars are stamped with the maker's mark of Larter & Sons (the profile of a shirt stud) surrounded by "14K" gold mark. The maker's mark is a spring-loaded shirt stud patented by Halsey Larter in 1898 and popularized by Larter & Sons in the early 20th century. Larter & Sons was founded in 1865 and made distinctive cufflinks and dress sets during the late Victorian era and early decades of the last century. The firm had offices in New York City and manufactured its jewelry across the Hudson River in New Jersey.
