Emerald-cut Sapphire Platinum Ring

What better way to showcase a spectacular emerald-cut sapphire than with sparkling trilliant diamonds set in a hand-crafted platinum ring. The sapphire is a rich, saturated blue that is reminiscent of the Aegean Sea in the moonlight. It is so gorgeous that the image on your browser may not do it justice!
This striking sapphire was fashioned by the gem cutter as an elongated emerald-cut with nicely bevelled corners. The sapphire weighs just over 2.0 carats and measures 8.5 by 4.9 millimeters.
 Our platinum smith is a talented artist who works with uncompromising attention to detail. In this view you can see the care with which he set the gemstones. The sapphire is held by four sturdy prongs that gently taper as they approach the under-gallery. This creates a sturdy setting without obscuring the beauty of the gemstone. The trilliant diamonds are set with "v"-style prongs that nicely complement the shape of the diamonds and protect their sharp points.
 From the side you can see the tiered placement of the sapphires and diamonds. One of the secrets to creating a beautiful three-stone ring is the relative heights and alignment of the gemstones. The gemstones should flow across the top of your finger in a dazzling display. You do not want the setting to appear boxy or crowded. Nor should there be gaps between the gemstones. By hand crafting this ring, we were able to make sure that the gemstones are perfectly positioned.
 You should always examine the underside of a fine jewel as closely as the top. Here you can see the sturdy under-gallery that securely holds and protects the sapphire and diamonds. Note that the inner surfaces are smoothly polished and the edges crisp and even. It is in the small details that the quality of true craftsmanship is seen.
