Shamrock Brooch with Diamonds

Victorian shamrock brooch with diamonds.

Luck of the Irish!

A beautiful four-leaf shamrock with leaves of aventurine quartz.   The center and stem of the shamrock are accented with four small diamonds set like gently glistening dew drops.

The Victorians loved jewels with hidden meanings and symbols of love and good fortune.   This shamrock brooch from the late 1800's is a wonderful example that is sure to bring you good luck.

Cost:  Sold

Measurements:  This wonderful 18kt Victorian brooch measures 1.125" across and 1.125" high.

This rear-view of the brooch shows the well-crafted 18kt gold work that supports the aventurine petals and diamonds.   Also note, the sturdy pin stem and protected "C" clasp characteristic of the Victorian era.

Gemological Note:  Aventurine is one of the more exotic varieties of quartz. Essentially rock crystal with a myriad of green fuchsite (careful with the pronunciation) inclusions, we like to refer to aventurine's sparkling green appearance as "schweppervesence".

If you appreciate Victorian jewels with a dash of good luck,
you might enjoy a  clover pin  with heart-shaped amethysts
or a  lucky horseshoe locket  that got away.
