Antique Blue Enamel Cufflinks

British blue enamel cufflinks. (J9029)

Blue and Gold

Elegant British cufflinks with engraved gold centers of rippling lines surrounded by beautiful blue enamel borders.  The repeated wavy lines in the center create an optical illusion of golden steps or stacked boxes.  Created in 9kt gold, circa 1925.

Note the care with which these cufflinks were crafted.  The solid gold backs help protect the enamel borders, while sturdy loop brackets and five-link chains secure the cufflinks on the cuff.  The gold backs are finished with a high, mirror-like polish - please excuse the dark reflections of my camera.

Above the brackets,  the backs are marked "9ct" for the purity of the gold.  The "ct" reflects the British spelling of karat with a "c" ... carat.
