Art Nouveau Diamond Cufflinks
Art Nouveau Curves
| Elegant, free flowing scrolls accented with a
sparkling star-set diamond. The sinuous, untamed curves
are a hallmark of Art Nouveau design. Created by Whiteside
& Blank in 14kt gold, circa 1900.
Whiteside & Blank created strikingly elegant cufflinks, stickpins and brooches during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The firm was known for elegant design and meticulous, uncompromising craftsmanship. A bit of historical trivia, one of the firm's founders, Henry Blank, was a survivor of the Titanic's ill-fated maiden voyage in 1912.
The cufflinks are beautifully crafted with strong curved "Y" bridges connecting the solid oval tops to sturdy "bean" backs. The maker's mark of Whiteside & Blank (a crescent pierced by an arrow) is stamped on the inside of the bean backs, along with "14K" for the purity of the gold.
