Antique Celtic Revival CufflinksCeltic Revival |
In the late 1800s there was a renewed interest
in the arts and ornament of ancient Ireland. Inspired by
the work of Archibald Knox at Liberty & Co., jewelers of the
era embraced the curving, intertwining lines of Celtic
design. These finely crafted gold cufflinks are a
wonderful example created by George O. Street & Sons in 14kt
gold circa 1890. These beautiful cufflinks were created by George O. Street & Sons, a jewelry maker based in New York City, George Street specialized in finely crafted gentlemen's jewelry including cufflinks, watch fobs and signet rings. The reverses of the cufflinks are as beautifully crafted as the fronts. Note the solid gold backs and the sturdy links that secure the cufflinks on your cuff. Just beneath the loop brackets is the maker's mark for George Street & Sons - an encircled "S" followed by "14" for the purity of the gold.
