Art Deco StickpinEgyptian Revival |
An Art Deco stickpin in the dramatic Egyptian
Revival style of the early 20th century. A stylized lotus
blossom or, perhaps, a palm frond rises above a luminous pearl
framed by exotic, intertwining scrolls. This elegant
stickpin was created by Whiteside & Blank in 14kt gold,
circa 1915.
The arts and architecture of ancient Egypt was a source of inspiration for late Victorian and early 20th century jewelers. The passion for the time of the pharaohs gave rise to everything from luxurious movie palaces to the smallest, finely crafted jewels. This dramatic stickpin is an elegant example. Cost: $385 |
The reverse of this stickpin was beautifully and solidly crafted as the front. The stickpin was created by Whiteside & Blank, a maker of fine jewels during the late 19th and early 20th century. The maker's mark of Whiteside & Blank (an arrow piercing a crescent moon) and the gold purity mark ("14") are stamped on the reverse of the stickpin just behind the pin stem. |
