Art Nouveau BroochGoddess of Spring II! |
A beautifully crafted Art Nouveau brooch of Flora, the Goddess of Spring. The goddess's golden tresses are highlighted with a bouquet of flowers and entwined foliage. This brooch draws its inspiration from the Art Nouveau themes of fantasy, nature and feminine beauty. Created by an unknown maker in 10kt gold, circa 1900.
The brooch has a brightly polished back and is secured with a sturdy "C" clasp and pin stem. A chatelaine hook beneath he pin stem allows a watch or small pendant to be suspended below the brooch.
The reverse of the brooch and the clasp are stamped with a maker's and gold purity mark, "K10KT". The jeweler who used this mark has not yet been identified, but from this and other similarly marked jewels it is clear that the maker was active during the Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts periods near the beginning of the 20th century.
